Panchayat

A Panchayat is a body of elected representatives of the people to administe the affairs of the Panchayat Raj institutions. The main components of a Panchayat are: President: He is the head of the Panchayat. He presides over the meetings and supervises the overall activities of the Block Panchayat. Vice President: He assumes the responsibilities in the absence of the President. Ward Members: Representatives elected from each Divisin of Block Panchayat. Standing Committees: These are sub-committees formed to facilitate decision-making, such as finance, development, welfare, health, education etc.
